The 240,000-square-foot Century City headquarters of the Creative Artists Agency features a grand two-story lobby and reception area with walls of hand-chiseled stone, high-gloss lacquer and metal cladding. Glass elevators, a cantilevered cross switchback stair, and a lantern wall connecting nine floors create a modern ode to today’s artists while offering a functional space to do business. An aggressive one-year construction schedule required painstaking coordination of the interior construction simultaneous to the building of the core and shell. This required logistical precision for basic needs such as the use of freight elevators or staging and stocking areas, planning flexibility while design features were completed, and quick response capabilities with the implementation of two separate expansion additions.
· Build-out began while the building was still being erected and open to the outside environment.
· Use of the freight elevators, and management of staging and stocking areas.
· Design features developing during construction due to the fast track nature of the work, including scope additions as well as changes and implementation of two separate expansion additions and various additional base building scope elements throughout.
