Taslimi was called upon to make major revisions and upgrades at The Culver Studios in Culver City. In addition to structural upgrades to existing historic buildings, Taslimi coordinated the wholesale move of four entire buildings from one end of the studio to the other, setting them onto new foundations built over an existing parking garage a quarter of a mile away. The move and subsequent historic renovation of the structures, and the subsequent infill of new landscaping and walkways, not only makes way for needed new construction on the original site, but creates a new compound that consolidates and preserves the unique history of the studio, and provides a creative workplace campus and landscape for the studio of the 21st century. Working in tandem with Hackman Capital Partners, Anthony Mason Associates Project Management, The Culver Studios, Environmental Science Associates, Culver City Cultural Affairs, Kaplan Chen Kaplan Architects and Planners, AHBE Landscape Architects, Gensler, John Labib + Associates Structural Engineers, ARC Engineering, KPFF, the Taslimi team took on a set of challenges that don’t come along often, and helped recreate a piece of history in the heart of Culver City.
